thank for sharing your experience. I find that i am always in my thoughts these days and a silent retreat would be even more detrimental to me LOL Im glad it worked for you though.

Totally fair – I haven't written much yet about the inner work I've been doing the last 6-12 months to get me to this point. There were definitely points in my life that I would've never considered doing a 10-day meditation retreat

Rooting for you! We're all embarking on our own journeys – hope you find the meaningful vehicles to help with your introspection :)

Thanks for sharing! Took me back to my experience doing Vipassana a few years ago (wrote about it here: https://ray-h-liu24.medium.com/my-10-day-silent-meditation-retreat-experience-a30ad56703f)

Thanks for sharing your essay. Ray – sounds like we had quite a parallel experience! Esp resistance around turning back before committing to the retreat

Thanks for sharing this. Going to a meditation retreat is on my list, but I also have many reasons to hesitate and push it off. I went for a long solo drive up the coast from San Jose to Vancouver and found it much more challenging than I expected to just be with my thoughts, even though I was busy driving and seeing new things. This helps put this in context and is motivating me to get it done. Thank you.

Glad to hear this piece resonated! Amazing to hear the San Jose -> Vancouver drive. Solo adventures are always harder than we'd expect – happy to be normalizing the discomfort and reward we reap from these experiences :)

You're inspiring me to capture some biometrics on my upcoming retreat! How nice to meet another meditator on the dhamma path!

Exciting to hear you're on the dhamma path too, Maymie – highly recommend! It's been amazing to see the impact meditating / yoga nidra has had on my body over time :)
